Hello, I am Angela, and I am the author of Genetics Rock.  I am a Science teacher, which I LOVE.  I have been teaching for 11 years, but I did not start my teaching career as a Science teacher.   Let me start from the beginning.   Growing up I wanted to be a veterinarian because I love animal, reptiles, amphibians, and spiders.  But something changed.  As I got up every morning, went to school, and eventually graduated, I began to realize that my Dad’s youngest sister never attend school, ever.  She was born with Down’s Syndrome, and in the 1950’s, 1960’s, and 1970’s there were not any programs for her in the school systems.  It was not until the mid-70’s that Special Education services were started in the school systems, and even then, Regular Education and Special Education students were not educated in the same classroom.   When I graduated high school, and began my college career, I declared my major as Special Education.  I graduated from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama with a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education – Behavior Disorders.  I began teaching after marriage, kids, moving several times, and a divorce.   I taught Special Education for 10 years, and after my tenth year I took a break.  I pursued other avenues, and I started on a Nursing program.  I did receive my Associates degree in Nursing, but I did not take it any further.  I decided to go back to teaching.  So here I am, teaching Science.  I am not a perfect teacher, I do make mistakes, but Science is my passion.
